"An Fathach Mor"

(The Big Giant)

Two cocky giants:

Fionn McCoull the Irish warrior, with footsteps of thunder

and

Cu Chulainn the Scottish fighter, who holds lightning in his pocket

One thinks he’s the biggest in the land.

One thinks he’s the strongest in the world.

Watch as they are brought together by curiousity and a magical bridge.

An exploration of the adventurous spirit and fear of the unknown.

Inspired by folk tales of the Giant’s Causeway in Ireland and the appearance of the same land formation on Staffa Island in Scotland – this will be a dance theatre performance for ages 7+ and their families.

A story of the shared Celtic heritage between Ireland and Scotland, celebrating native language, land mass and the power of folklore.

As an Irish choreographer based in Scotland, I am fascinated by our cultural similarities, the reappearance of mythical characters across both lands and moreover, what these can offer a young modern audience.

This is a work in progress and I continue to seek out opportunities to develop it.

An Fathach Mor  has previously been supported by Scottish Youth Theatre, Dundee Rep and CityMoves Dance Agency.
