Artistic

Statement

I make work because it's really hard and I feel challenged every day. I aim to create raw, physical work that delves into the everyday nonsense and mythical legacy; embracing the unknown and engaging with the complexities of being human that engulf us all.

Authenticity, play and aliveness are at the heart of what I do. Dance is a form full of magic, spontaneity, incorporeality and connection. It should come from a place of vibrancy, recreation and honesty. I wish to instil that in my work through my inclusion of improvisation moving to more set structures as the work progresses. In this I hope to allow dancers claim their power, autonomy and spirit.

We are a product of everything we experience and everything that has come before us. I aim to interrogate and break down the barriers of the past, stories that are embedded in us; to become empowering in the present pushing hope in our future. I wish to tap into this and the magic of the bed time stories that scared or consoled us. That attempted to moralise us.

I look forward to re-imagining all that we perceive as female or gender specific and wage war on the status quo. Daring to reclaim femininity with the liberation of human movements.

I wish to embrace the unknown by collaborating with artists from all disciplines and backgrounds so that we may challenge and be challenged, create and recreate our notions and ways of working.
